28 premature babies evacuated from southern Gaza Strip to Egyptian border for treatment

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society on Monday evacuated 28 premature babies from the Emirati Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip to the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

The infants were transported in preparation to transfer them to Egypt for treatment, the humanitarian organization said in a statement on X.

It said the evacuation took place in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

There has been no official comment from Egypt on the details of the evacuation process.

Earlier, the Red Crescent had said it evacuated 31 premature babies from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City had been brought to the Emirati Hospital in Rafah City.

The Israeli army had surrounded Al-Shifa Hospital and compelled the people inside to displace forcibly.
